More Classics Digitalia
A short list of other Digital Humanities projects exploring ancient literary spaces, geography, and networks.
Hestia
The Hestia Project ("Herodotus Encoded Space-Text-Imaging Archive") proposes a geospatial analysis of Herodotus' Histories. First launched in 2008, the project consisted of two development phases (HESTIA and HESTIA2) and a public-facing phase aimed at reaching school audiences (in collaboration with The Iris Project).

GAP
GAP is the acronym for "Google Ancient Places", a project aimed at enhancing the "discovery and usability" of large text corpora. The GAP Team developed a search engine, adapted from the Edinburgh Geoparser, that locates "geotags" (references to ancient places) and "georesolves" them, meaning links them to a gazetteer. The visual platform used to display the results is GapVis.
Pleiades
Pleiades is the most extensive open-access geospatial database of antiquity to date. It provides information about over 40,000 ancient places, names, and locations in the Mediterranean littoral, ancient Europe, and South-West Asia. The project has been jointly directed by the Institute for the Study of the Ancient World at New York University and the Ancient World Mapping Center at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Pelagios Network
Building on the Pelagios project, which ran from 2011 to 2019, the Pelagios Network provides a platform for scholars of ancient places worldwide. Through the Network platform, scholars work together to annotate and organize geographic data.
